Even though it's hard ... I smile

I love travelling and occasionally I travel by train and get to enjoy picturesque scenery as the train speeds along the countryside and cities. If you have ever travelled on a train on a long journey, you may have noticed that every once in a while, it goes through a tunnel.

I'm not fond of tunnels, they are dark, spooky and there's nothing to see in there and a lot of times there's no phone reception. It's always a great relief when the train shoots out of the tunnel and back into the magnificent light again.

Over the last few weeks I've felt like I've been in a dark tunnel in my own life journey. Things have been difficult and kinda weighing me down. It seemed like there was so much opposition from the enemy and I started losing the will power to even fight back. Even my so called communication "reception" in the tunnel was poor, I couldn't "connect" with God as well as I usually do. But praise God that I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel, very soon I shall shoot out of the dark and into the glorious light.

The other day I was listening to Joyce Meyer's podcast and God spoke to me and reminded me of an "old time truth", through her message. She said that although our victory has already been secured, we still need to fight aggressively to be able to possess everything which is rightfully ours.
Matt 11:12 says that.".. the kingdom of heaven suffers violence and violent men shall take it by force."

I have put back on my fighting gloves and resumed the fight and I'm not going to allow the enemy to run rampage in my life. The bible says we should "...fight the good fight..." and I'm now doing so with joy as I know that soon, I will be out of the tunnel and enjoying the lovely scenery again.

Kirk Franklin's new song (with some one's homemade video) has kept me company and do take a moment to listen to it, it's a great song. I can't listen to it and not smile. And so I smile...not because my life is perfect but because I serve a God who works everything for good behind the scenes, praise God
Like Aretha Franklin sang..."say a lil prayer for me..." if you get a chance, I appreciate you stopping by, thanks and have a lovely week!

  3. Sweet heart, you're not alone. Funny thing is I just blogged about something similar last night (http://norosebed.blogspot.com/2011/02/in-storm.html).

You're going to get through this with a gazillion reasons to smile afterwards. You've said it all, you know the truth and the truth would set you free from this darkness.

My Pastor said something in church today which stuck, "how do you fight a battle and say I won if you never went through the battle?". You can't win unless you fight.

    hold on!

  8. if there's one thing I've learned in life, its that no matter what you going through, someone else is going through worse. Now I know that is often criticized with notions of "i am me - not someone else"..however my point on that is "it could be worse". Realizing that there is light at the end of the tunnel is always the first stage towards getting out of a slump. I'm spiritual, staunch catholic, and I also know God helps those who help themselves. So kudos for realizing there is light at the end of the tunnel. In the midst of troubles and hardships too many folk "accept" the negative aspects and fantasize the problems talking about the problems to their mates, and dreaming of a miracle and not necessarily doing anything towards getting out of the slump and working towards the miracle.

I know a lady at work who has had VERY BAD relationships - to the point of losing her house to her fiancée - and for a few weeks/months sharing that house with her fiancée and his new missus. Now thats enough to make someone commit suicide (but thats cowardice), but its not supposed to ruin your life. Now this woman is turning 40 in a few weeks, all alone, does not go for meals, coffee, dinner, partying - nothing..always stays at home..and every day at work its another reminder of how A, B and C treated her like dirt.
i think the problem with her is she got comfortable with folk feeling sorry for her and everyday we reminded of the times when things could have worked out.
Few months back I managed to convince her to go for a drink with one of the guys who had just joined us at work on a contract basis as he was sorting out a project with us, and they didn't really hit it off enough to keep going, but for a few days she was glowing and smiling and talking about him constantly. Till he had to move and she went back into her slump (fist date in years so its something right). problem : too high expectations. She probably thought she found her prince charming.
So now i take it upon myself. She know i'm in a committed relationship, and have found the woman i wanna spend the rest of my life with, so there's no expectations there. I've (somehow) managed her to go for coffee with me - and my goal is to show her that nomatter what, it could be worse, be grateful for the things you have - focus on the positives while you going through hardships, working on getting out of the hardships and NEVER give up. EVER.

So here's to hopefully putting a smile on one complicated, intelligent and amazing lady.

And keep the smile on..fantastic attitude. everything gon work out :)

  12. Aww GG, I'm so sorry that you're going thru tough times.

Do know that it's only for a short while!

You'll come out of the tunnel...better, stronger, and wiser! Don't take those fighting gloves off! You already have the victory!

And I pray that God continues to strengthen you and allow you to see the good in what ever you're going thru. Just know that he's always near when you need him!

Keep your head up dear...the devil will surely be put to shame!

    Love ya!

I am praying for you too. I identify with you in this season. In many ways.

The following came to my inbox yesterday. I just wanted to share it with you & to say, SPRING is coming!

    Hugs and prayers for you

    Patrina <")>><

"I am full of earth, you are heaven's worth, I am stained with dirt, prone to depravity.

You are everything that is bright and clean, the antonym of me, you are divinity.

But a certain sign of grace is this: from the broken earth, flowers come up, pushing through the dirt.

    David Crowder Band, "Wholly Yours"

The Lord asks, "If you are not my flower, then why do you long to blossom? Do blades of grass seek a time to bloom? Do they display wondrous petals and pleasing aromas? They do not, for they are not flowers. But you are my flower! You see a day of blooming because you are my flower.  "

"See now the dirt that covers you. I will give you a mighty push and you will break through the dirt that prevents your blooming. Do you still misunderstand the dirt? Do you still despise the dark soil from which you will rise in splendor? Is not the dirt my servant, prepared with nutrients to cause your blooming?"

"See now the dirt. Yes, look upon it carefully. The very dirt you now fear is the certain sign of my grace: from the broken earth your flower will come up and present its glory to me. It will surely push through and I will be pleased to see it at last."
